The Magical Writer’s Circle: Level Up and Build Community
Frederick CUUPs, Frederick, MD, Tuesday eves, June 4th– 25th

If leveling up your writing and workshopping your work in the company of other magical writers sounds like a good time–this class is for you. Dig more deeply into writing strategies as you craft a single piece and move toward publication. While our focus is becoming the writers we are called to be, classes will also host complementary rituals, discussions of raising magical—so creative–energies, and our relationships with sponsoring deity, spirit, and ancestral relations. Students in this course will learn about writing habits and strategies, discuss the elements of writing that make for evocative and meaningful writing/reading, write together and workshop each other’s drafts.

Course will meet for five sessions: 1) The first class will be in person, 2) Then writers will meet via Zoom for three consecutive sessions. The course includes a 45 minute one-on-one coaching session with the instructor.

Retreats

Join a small and welcoming community of writers for a personalized writing retreat near one of West Virginia’s most beautiful State Parks. Writers of all experience levels and projects are welcome—a perfect opportunity for those who have been wanting to dive into that book project, collection, essay, family history, or script. Retreat will be held in a beautiful private residence in the Lost River Valley. Facilitator is an award-winning writer, who has taught writing, coached writers, and facilitated writing communities for over 20 years.

Registration fee includes lodging and a Saturday evening public reading of your work, and all meals.

More on lodging: Lost River Barn
(Alma Katsu, author of Red London, described the Lost River Barn as “a magical place.”)

Facilitated Writing Groups
A “facilitated writer’s group” includes one to two hour meetings of three or more writers. I handle the scheduling, Zoom link, and setting the tone for sharing drafts in progress and thoughtful, helpful commenting. A group will meet twice monthly for reading and discussion of each other’s works.

Registration for a facilitated writer’s group is $200 for five group meetings. Add a one-one-one session for $250.00.

Coaching

Michelle is only offering coaching to those who have taken classes or in connection to writing retreats at this time.

My coaching rate is $60 an hour, which includes 1/2 hour of reading outside the session and a one-one-one via zoom. A block of five sessions is $250.00.
